Bitter Sweet Simphony (The Verve)

BITTER SWEET SIMPHONY
(THE VERVE)

Cause it’s a bittersweet symphony, this life
Trying to make ends meet
You’re a slave to money then you die
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah

No change, I can’t change
I can’t change, I can’t change
But I’m here in my mind
I am here in my mind
But I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mind
No, no, no, no, no, no, no,no,no,no,no,no(fading away)

Well I never pray
But tonight I’m on my knees yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airways are clean and there’s nobody singing to me now

No change, I can’t change
I can’t change, I can’t change
But I’m here in my mind
I am here in my mind
And I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mind
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
I can’t change
I can’t change it

‘Cause it’s a bittersweet symphony, this life
Trying to make ends meet
Trying to find some money then you die
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah

You know I can’t change, I can’t change
I can’t change, I can’t change
But I’m here in my mind
I am here in my mind
And I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mind
No, no, no, no, no

I can’t change my mind
no, no, no, no, no,
I can’t change
Can’t change my body,
no, no, no

I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
Been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
That you’ve ever been down
That you’ve ever been down

Silenced by the night (Keane)

SILENCED BY THE NIGHT
KEANE
In a city like mine there’s no point in fighting
I close my eyes, see you and me driving
If I am a river, you are the ocean
Got the radio on guard, the wheels of the motion.
We were silenced by the night
But you and I, we’re gonna rise again
Divided from the light
I wanna love the way we used to then.
I lie in the dark I feel I am falling
feel your hand on my back hear your voice calling
I’m out on my depth girl stick close to me,
Because the people in this town they look straight through me.
We were silenced by the night
But you and I, we’re gonna rise again
Divided from the light
I wanna love the way we used to then.
Cos baby I’m not scared of this world when you’re here
and baby I’m not scared of this worlf when you’re here.
Oh, Oh, Oh
You and I, we’re gonna rise again
Oh, Oh, Oh
You and I, we’re gonna rise again
We were silenced by the night
But you and I, we’re gonna rise again
Divided from the light
I wanna love the way we used to then.

Is it any wonder? (Keane)

Cando está a piques de saír o cuarto álbum do grupo de Battle, cómpre facer unha reseña desta agrupación que compareceu ante o gran público en 2004 co disco Hopes and fears unha renovación no britpop, non só polo carisma do seu líder Tom Chaplin senón por presentar unha panoplia de cancións onde non se escoita unha soa guitarra. Is it any wonder? pertence ao segundo álbum deste cuarteto (orixinariamente trío), Under the iron sea e reflicte á perfección o estilo do grupo.

IS IT ANY WONDER? (Keane)

I always thought that I knew
I’d always have the right to
Be living in the kingdom of the good and true
And so on
But now I think I was wrong
And you were laughing along
And now I look a fool for thinking you were on, my side

Is it any wonder that I’m tired?
Is it any wonder that I feel uptight?
Is it any wonder I don’t know what’s right?

Sometimes
It’s hard to know where I stand
It’s hard to know where I am
Or maybe it’s a puzzle I don’t understand
Sometimes
I get the feeling that I’m
Stranded in the wrong time
Where love is just a lyric in children’s rhyme, a soundbite

Is it any wonder that I’m tired?
Is it any wonder that I feel uptight?
Is it any wonder I don’t know what’s right
Oh these days?
After all the misery you made
Is it any wonder that I feel afraid?
Is it any wonder that I feel betrayed?

Nothing left inside this old cathedral
Just the sad lonely spires
How do you make it right?

Oh but you try
Is it any wonder that I’m tired?
Is it any wonder that I feel uptight?
Is it any wonder I don’t know what’s right?
Oh these days
After all the misery you made
Is it any wonder that I feel afraid?
Is it any wonder that I feel betrayed?
