The Lazy Sunbathers (Morrissey)

Reproductor do video.

Esta canción é o penúltimo corte do seu disco Vauxhall and I unha canción que recolle moito do xeito de cantar de Morrisey de sempre, aloumiñandonos coa súa voz, moito mellor agora.

THE LAZY SUNBATHERS
(MORRISSEY)

A world war
was announced
days ago
but they didn’t know
the lazy sunbathers
the lazy sunbathers
The sun burns through
to the planet’s core
and it isn’t enough
they want more

nothing
appears
to be
between the ears of
the lazy sunbathers
too jaded
to question stagnation
the sun burns through
to the planet’s core
and it isn’t enough
they want more

religions fall
children shelled
“…children shelled ? that’s all
very well, but would you
please keep the noise
down low ?
because you’re waking
the lazy sunbathers …”
oh, the lazy sunbathers
the lazy sunbathers

In the ghetto (Elvis Presley)

Reproductor do video.

IN THE GHETTO
(ELVIS PRESLEY)

As the snow flies
on a cold and gray chicago mornin’
a poor little baby child is born
in the ghetto
and his mama cries
‘cause if there’s one thing that she don’t need
it’s another hungry mouth to feed
in the ghetto
people, don’t you understand
the child needs a helping hand
or he’ll grow to be an angry young man some day
take a look at you and me,
are we too blind to see,
do we simply turn our heads
and look the other way
well the world turns
and a hungry little boy with a runny nose
plays in the street as the cold wind blows
in the ghetto
and his hunger burns
so he starts to roam the streets at night
and he learns how to steal
and he learns how to fight
in the ghetto
then one night in desperation
a young man breaks away
he buys a gun, steals a car,
tries to run, but he don’t get far
and his mama cries
as a crowd gathers ‘round an angry young man
face down on the street with a gun in his hand
in the ghetto
as her young man dies,
on a cold and gray chicago mornin’,
another little baby child is born
in the ghetto

The more you ignore me, the closer I get (Morrisey)

Reproductor do video.

THE MORE YOU IGNORE ME, THE CLOSER I GET
(MORRISSEY)

The more you ignore me
the closer i get
you’re wasting your time
the more you ignore me
the closer i get
you’re wasting your time
I will be
in the bar
with my head
on the bar
i am now
a central part
of your mind’s landscape
whether you care
or do not
yeah, i’ve made up your mind

the more you ignore me
the closer i get
you’re wasting your time
the more you ignore me
the closer i get
you’re wasting your time

beware !
i bear more grudges
than lonely high court judges
when you sleep
i will creep
into your thoughts
like a bad debt
that you can’t pay
take the easy way
and give in
yeah, and let me in
oh, let me in
oh let me …
oh, let me in
it’s war
it’s war
it’s war
it’s war
it’s war
war
war
war
war
oh, let me in
ah, the closer i get
ah, you’re asking for it
ah, the closer i get
ooh, the closer i …

Time after time (Cassandra Wilson)

TIME AFTER TIME
(CASSANDRA WILSON)

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion
Is nothing new
Flashback–warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after–
Sometimes you picture me–
I’m walking too far ahead
You’re calling to me, I can’t hear
What you’ve said–
Then you say–go slow–
I fall behind–
The second hand unwinds
[Chorus:]
If you’re lost you can look–and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you–I’ll be waiting
Time after time
After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Watching through windows–you’re wondering
If I’m OK
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time–
[Chorus:]
You said go slow–
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds–
[Chorus:]
Time after time…
Time after time…
Time after time…
Time after time…

RULES AND REGULATIONS
(RUFUS WAINWRIGHT)

I will never be as cute as you,
according to the board of human relations
I will never fly as high as you,
according to the board of public citations

These are just the rules and regulations
Of the birds, and the bees
The earth, and the trees,
Not to mention the gods, not to mention the gods

All my little life I’ve wanted to roam
Even if it was just inside my own home
Then one little day I chanced to look back
Saw you sittin’ there, being a sad culprit

These are just the rules and regulations
Of the birds, and the bees
The earth, and the trees,
Not to mention the gods, not to mention the gods

These are just the rules and regulations
Yeah, these are just the rules and regulations
And I like every one, yes I like every one.

DON´T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME
(SIMPLE MINDS)

Hey, hey, hey ,hey Ohhh…

Won’t you come see about me?
I’ll be alone, dancing you know it baby

Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love’s strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don’t You Forget About Me
Don’t Don’t Don’t Don’t
Don’t You Forget About Me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down

Hey, hey, hey, hey Ohhhh…..

Don’t you try to pretend
It’s my feeling we’ll win in the end
I won’t harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

Don’t you forget about me
I’ll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I’ll put us back together at heart, baby

Don’t You Forget About Me
Don’t Don’t Don’t Don’t
Don’t You Forget About Me

Everybody wants to rule the world (Tears for fears)

Reproductor do video.

EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD
(TEARS FOR FEARS)

Welcome to your life.
there’s no turning back.
even while we sleep.
we will find you
acting out your best behavior
turn your back on mother nature
everybody wants to rule the world.

it’s my own desire
it’s my own reward.
help me to decide
help me make the most of freedom
and our pleasure
nothing ever lasts forever.
everybody wants to rule the world.

there’s a room where the light won’t find you,
holding hands while the walls come tumbling down.
when they do, i’ll be right behind you.
so glad, we’ve almost made it;
so sad, they had to take it.
everybody wants to rule the world.
I can’t stand this indecision married
with a lack of vision everybody
wants to rule the world
Say that you’l never never never need it
one headline, why believe it?
everybody wants to rule the world
All for freedom and for pleasure
nothing lasts forever
everybody wants to rule the world

As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away

Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on – call my name
Will you all my name?

I say : La la la…

Me and the farmer (The Housemartins)

ME AND THE FARMER
(THE HOUSEMARTINS)

Me and the farmer
Get on fine
Through stormy weather and bottles of wine
If I pull my weight
He’ll treat me well
But if I’m late he’ll give me hell

And thought it’s all hard work no play
Farmer is a happy crook
But Jesus hates him everyday
‘Cause Jesus gave and farmer took, took

{Won’t he let you go ?}
Probably no
{Won’t he let you go ?}
Probably no
{Why does he treat you so ?}
I just don’t know
{Why does he treat you so ?}
I just don’t know
Me and the farmer like brother, like sister
Getting on like hand and blister
Me… and… the farmer (roh roh)

He’s chopped down sheep, planted trees
And helped the countryside to breathe
Ripped up fields, bullied flocks
And worked his workers right around the clock

It may seem strange but he’d admit
Intentions aren’t exactly true
and through God loves his wife a bit
He hates the farmer through and through

{Won’t he let you go?}
Probably no
{Won’t he let you go ?}
Probably no
{Why does he treat you so ?}
I just don’t know
{Why does he treat you so ?}
I just don’t know
Me and the farmer like brother, like sister
Getting on like hand and blister
Me… and… the farmer (roh roh)

All things bright and beautiful
All creatures great and small
All we’ve got is London Zoo
‘Cause farmer owns them all, all…

{Won’t he let you go ?}
Probably no
{Won’t he let you go ?}
Probably no
{Why does he treat you so ?}
I just don’t know
{Why does he treat you so ?}
I just don’t know
Me and the farmer like brother, like sister
Getting on like hand and blister
Me… and… the farmer (roh roh)

Wrapped up in books (Belle and Sebastian)

Reproductor do video.

WRAPPED UP IN BOOKS
(BELLE AND SEBASTIAN)

It was pretty bright, up on the rainbow bridge tonight
i could see into your window although you’re far away
you were racing in a car
beside a boy, you just don’t know if he is up for
what you have in mind
if he is up for what you have in mind
Change is on the cards, but this time it will be hard
but i never want to leave you
we’ve never had a fight
you should never split a pole
you should never split at all
i wish i had two paths that i could follow
i’d write the ending without any sorrow
I will say a prayer, just while you are sitting there
i will wrap my hands around you
i know it will be fine
we’ve got a fantasy affair
we didn’t get wet, we didn’t dare
our aspirations, are wrapped up in books
our inclinations are hidden in looks
Summer’s hastening on
i’m trying to get a feeling from the city
but i’ve been unfaithful
i’ve been travelling abroad
we’ve got a fantasy affair
we didn’t get wet, we didn’t dare
our aspirations, are wrapped up in books
our inclinations are hidden in looks.
